The Wake Up Call

Hello there!
Last week was definitely a wake up call that I am not in a small city anymore. I always thought I would want to permanently want to live in a big city when I got older but that all changed  on Wednesday. I went to the pool as usual, while I was there I heard a lot of sirens nearby and a helicopter was circling over head. My phone was going nuts with notifications on facebook from some other housewives here about the other pool just a few streets over. I was curious of what was going on so I thought I'd see if anything was on the news. Come to find out three people had been stabbed! Luckily no one was killed. You just don't hear things like that too often when you're from a smaller city! Then on Saturday Chase and I went grocery shopping and the fire alarm had been pulled. A manager was frantically yelling that it wasn't a drill so we all evacuated. I don't know how serious it was we left before anything really happened.  You always read things on the news or sometimes see it in movies about things like that happening so it's crazy to experience it all first hand!
Yesterday was a fun day. For our anniversary I got Chase a starter shave kit and a gift card for a professional shave.

(Here is the link if you are interested in checking it out. )  ( : He loved it! The product also lasts quite a while. It also makes for a good gift.
We are getting excited to move to Boston in about a week! I can't wait to explore around there and learn more about the history that is there. Get ready for lots of pictures. (:

Until next time!

Loving Long Island

Hello hello hello all the way from Long Island, NY!
Since last time I have posted we have been doing some fun things here! First off Chase has been doing an amazing job at what he does! He was number one for doing the most installs in May for being a first year (I think out of the whole company?). I think that calls for some bragging rights!
We finally made it to Long Beach, which was a blast. The waves weren't as big as you see in the movies but they were bigger than I have ever seen before. When I finally gathered enough courage to join my husband, in the freezing water, moments later a wave knocked us both right over so we called it quits from being in the water and enjoyed the sun.

Since our anniversary was on the first of this month I've decided to celebrate all month. We totally deserve it! I am extremely blessed to have found my partner in crime, my rock, and of course my bestfriend. I know it's cliché to say that but it is true. I love all my wedding photos because most of them are candid and can see the glow in our faces. Our love is true and I'm glad I get to spend eternity with this man. I'm grateful for us it doesn't end at "til death do we part". One of the awesome perks of being LDS. (:
I am excited to be able to celebrate some more here in New York also with there being so many things to do. I am hoping to be able to see some light houses while we are here and explore many more beaches.

Since my family and friends are curious of what I do all day since I have no car I:
•watch lots of Netflix (The Carrie Diaries, Hart of Dixie, and Gossip Girl)
•go to the pool with some girls if it isn't raining
•go to the gym
•and do lots of chores
I basically live for Sundays so I can dress up, go to church and spend some quality time with my boo.
           ☆some recommendations:
○ go see Fault In Our Stars
○ if you find yourself in Long Island go to Long Beach
○ check out The Dating Divas Blog. It's one of my favorites

Our life in New York

Hello friends and family. I know this sounds cliché but I have decided to start a blog mainly to keep you all updated on the life of the Burkes and for documentation. Since Chase works long hours everyday except Sunday I thought this would be a fun way to spend some of my days since I am carless and have lots of time on my hands.
Chase and I are loving New York so far! Although we are definitely missing the mountains and all of the outdoor things we could do in the summer. The only mountain here is the lovely landfill that is practically in our backyard haha. Traffic and the roads here are awful. It really makes me appreciate Idaho and all of the construction. The weather is similar to back home and maybe even colder. It rains quite a bit here. We have been able to do so many things. We got to experience the train to Manhattan which was interesting for first timers who didn't have a clue on what we were doing. We have been able to see the Statue Of Liberty, take a bike ride around Central Park, see Time Square, and so much more. The 9/11 Memorial and Broadway is obviously a must see as well. Cinderella was fantastic! We had Keste pizza which was super yummy and I recommend it to anyone who goes to the city.
We are loving our ward out here. It is super tiny. I think there may be about 100 people including everyone out here for summer sales. It is very humbling seeing the Lords work done in action. They all are very spiritual and loving. They are strong members. It is different than in Idaho and Utah where the wards are giant.
In July we will be moving to Boston. I am excited to be able to see everything there and learn more about the history.
Our one year anniversary was last Sunday! We both weren't feeling our best since we both got the flu so we plan on celebrating some more this week.
